Singapore Biennale 2008 Artwork Display at Raffles City

Fantasmas (Phantoms), Singapore Biennale Installation by Spanish artist Isaac Montoya.

At first look, you see a rainbow-coloured portrait of a young woman screaming. Looking through a different lens, two more images are revealed.

The initial image is taken from our consumer laden cuture, familiar and friendly image. The hidden images (red and blue filters) reference the tragedy present in other places around the world.

Bugis Street Shopping Singapore

Bugis Street is one of the best known tourist and local destination in Singapore. It is billed by the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board as the “The Largest Street-Shopping Location in Singapore”. The shopping centre has about 600 shops offering a variety of fashion and trendy dresses, foods, gifts and souvenir goods at very reasonable prices.

This is the inner top view of the main entrance of Takashimaya Mall in Ngee Ann City. Takashimaya is a large Japanese department store chain. The store has outlet throughout Japan and also in New York, Paris and Taipei. Tashimaya Singapore is located on Orchard Road.

Singapore Vivocity Shopping Mall

VivoCity is the largest shopping mall in Singapore. The name “VivoCity” according to Mappletree Chairman is derived from the word vivacity, “evoking a lifestyle experience that is modern, stimulating and accessible to everyone, a place bubbling with energy and flowing with vitality”.

Vivocity features the largest cinema multiplex in Singapore with 15 screens and 2,293 seats and spacious waterfront relaxation and entertainment. The mall has also been the landmark for locals and tourists going to Sentosa. It connects to Sentosa Island via the Sentosa Express terminal station on level 3. VivoCity has been the the official venue of the televised new year countdown since 2007 which was previously held at Sentosa.
