Be enthralled by the artworks of Sun Yu-li who has been actively involved in the Singapore, regional and international arts scene for over 20 years. His sculptures and paintings can be seen all over the island from The Singapore Art Museum to Dhoby Ghaut station and in countries like China, US and England.
Alone on this reclusive spiritual path, exploring diligently all these years, Mr Sun has finally realized that only the metaphysical mould (symbolic pattern) is the simplest, most direct and most powerful means of expression.
Mr Sun’s exhibition, ‘Quest: Where Heaven and Man Meet’ presented by tcc - the coffee connoisseur and organised by art-management.com, explores his deep thoughts on the relationship between heaven and man, as well as the ‘Universal Language’ he discovered which is bridging the two. Applying the fundamental elements of the Universal Language - the dot, the line and the plane, Mr Sun sets out to convey the limits of man’s existence through his works.
The most primitive forms and the most basic movements presented by all things in this world Mr Sun believes - are patterns. From shooting stars in the galaxy to the trace of wind left behind on the sand, the development of material and life are all manifested in the form of patterns.
Mr Sun’s seemingly peaceful paintings, springing the chain of life from the mutual inductance among the dot, the line and the plane, actually embody the most basic and abundant key to life. His work gives viewers a strong sense of intellectual freedom and cultural link; it is an exposition of symbolic and geometric type of values and universal view.
